The Fosamax (Alendronate) study done for FDA approval failed to show any benefit for the osteopenia group where fracture rates actually went up. This data was data published by Cummings in JAMA in 1998 (the FIT study, which stands for Fracture Intervention Trial).

Problem Two: Bisphosphonates drugs like Fosamax have severe adverse side effects of jaw necrosis (OJN), spontaneous mid-femur fracture, heart rhythm disturbances, and severe bone and joint pain.

Have a similar problem..have a coop..put in zimmer hip in 2003--now the hip stem has failed..per the othopedic doc.but no one wants to do anything. Keep sending to more docs, will not do Mri with contrast (too expensive)--on heavy painkillers for 8 months..its been a year. Costs too much..am only 61 with both hips replaceds. Left is the failed one. They even lost my medical records when I asked for the serial number of the Zimmer implants they put in. Suggestions?

This is one of those difficult cases that don't bring too many clarification on the final verdict. There is always a solid argument behind the verdict but something always remains unclear. As far as I think, FDA will reject that warning.

about may I started getting avery sever rash that formed into open wounds and such. I went to the doctor and got some salve and I am doing alpha lipoic pills. It has been about three months and has gotten better but is still red and itches. ty I asked if it wa stevens johonson syndrome and he said no

This is a very unfortunate. There should be an independent body who can test the medicines our in the market to see if the side effects are not severely harmful to our body or not. This will lessen pharmaceutical makers to produce more harmful medicine.

Those are very harmful medicines and yet they are still on the market. Hope that they learned about this and would take those drugs out of the market to prevent people getting sick because of those drugs.

Fortunately my refrigerator wasn't on the recall list, no technical problems here. Still as a Maytag customer I think Maytag acted with professionalism on this one, customers are sensitive to any change, they deserve respect and a good treatment.
